I have always held that fasting from 8am to 4pm between breakfast and evening tiffin is the greatest farce of a protest. Rajni introduced it for kaveri issue. Who would care when a fast is between 8 to 4 when everyone knows he is not going to be affected, it will just help in reducing sugar levels if at all. When Thirumavalavan took a fast unto death I was suprised. Irrespective of his ideologies I supported it.

Its a pity no one cared about it and nothing happened. And so there were some dramas. the great Dr visited him in public checked his health and suggested why fast unto your death, why kill your self, kill others. Create a Bandh and block all activities in the state. Wow, what a noble way to fight for the cause of innocent tamils in Sri Lanka by killing more innoncent tamils in TamilNadu. and they torched buses killed people and everyone including thiruma, Kalaignar and Dr.Ramadoss lived happily ever after!!!

Diplomacy - Who is better

Immediately after 26/11 Zardari mentioned that Non-State actors are causing troubles and they are affecting both India and Pak. They want war etc., We were able to push to the conclusion that ISI and Army to get away from the Taliban war created a situation where India will be compelled to strike in Terrorist areas in Pak.

Amidst the War hysteria and all, Pak managed to create an impression that It will move away from Taliban to defend from Aggresor India and forced our PM to say "Nobody wants war" with the almost contradictory "All options are open" by the External Affairs and Dfence ministers. no one knows what those options are.

That was in all fairness a success of the Pak Diplomacy or rather tha lack of it in turning our attack into a black mail for the World. But soon the talk of war subsidised for we were into requesting Pak "Agree that Kasab is a Pakistani". From forcing Pakistan to accept ISI's complicity in the attacks today we are faced with making them accept that atleast one of them captured is a Pakistani. India beleives that will automatically make everything in the evidence acceptable, but for Pakistan the Confession is still not acceptable.

We are down to bargaining with Pakistan to act against Perpetrators, to show the willingness to act, to prosecute the evidence, to interrogate and share results if they will from the position of Sending them to India for Interrogation. All those topics have now been pushed to the backburner and we are elated that Pak accepted Kasab's nationality. And Pakistan by dismissing its NSA and creating a flurry of self contradictory messages has ensured that the news of Kasab being a Pakistani stay in news longer so people forget all talks of Extradition, Investigation, Interrogation etc., Today we are happy that Pakistan has accepted Kasab's nationality, which we knew from the very beginning, they have not accepted JuD or LeTs involvement, nor or ISI's support nor of a government backed plan to attack India. They have not even accepted to extradite Dawood (an indian citizen a rather shameful thing to say for us), and we have not been able to do a thing.

India has gone from accusing Pakistan and ISI of causing cross border terrorism against India to Pakistani soil being used to elements in Pakistan to non-state actors to a citizen from Pakistan is involved. Pakistan has gone from Non-State actors no official involvement to No Pakistani involvement to No Evidence to India's cooked up evidence to Pak is more affected by terrorism lines. From saying Mumbai carnage was bad to saying they have had strikes worse than Mumbai meaning the terrorists from Pakistanis have not done their job as instructed or upto the mark.

It seems like Pakistan's diplomacy motivated only by causing destruction to India seems far more attractive to the World Community viz US, China and Saudi Arabia than the Indian Diplomacy of seeking the world to see the peace mongers in here vs Israel.

Whose feet stinks?

Take a look around the room. India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and China. We have this great impression that everyone except India are bad. We pride ourselves on our glorious democracy and pass on the idea for the enlightment of our impoverished neighbours. Lest Terror grow because of a lack of democracy.

We are concerned about Pak sponsored terror, Bangladesh infiltrators, LTTE and srilankan aggression. We try not to speak about China or Tibet or Arunachal like most of the world economies eg:France. We seek solace in similarity and strategic deals with the US. We say Pak has to get its house in order. Have we got ours. Have we covered our bases. Didnt the mumbai underworld help in the 26/11 Carnage. While we have not been able to nab a single terrorist in India ofthe Indian Mujhaidenn, SIMI, Sadhvi Pragya etc., and punish them how do we expect Pak to be able to immediately arrest Masood Azhar and Dawood Ibrahim.

We belive so because we beleive the Pak security establishment (read Army and ISI) sponsor them and patronize them and know where they are. In our case dont we know any of the perpetrators of Terror in India. We have our own forces(political and police) protecting them. BJP wants stronger laws but not to be used against Sadhvi Pragya. Congress wants uninhibited power for Maharashtra but not for Gujarat. Indian Muslims intentions should never be doubted even for those are found involved in a terror plot and a Doctor in australia accused will cause immense pain to the establishment. The government tries to hide the involvement of many people for many reasons in every terror incident. The same way Pak hides and highlights what it needs.

As long as we do not come to terms with the fact that we are not all that great we can never acheive anything. Indians have a very weak proposition towards appreciations. The world appreciates that we are mature, responsible and we try to act that way. It says we grow economically to a Super Power we immediately beleive so and say everyone else is jealous of us. We can very rarely see any news about India in Western Media espescially US. They spoke about 26/11 because Jews and foreigners were impacted. They speak about Out Sourcing as a threat or about cricket in UK that is all. When they come to India or Indian media speaks to them they give the rosy image or picture about India, else they are least bothered about us. Only we try to beat up the drums.

We have to contend with the fact that the nation has not grown all that It is expected to. We have people discontended, we have refugees, we have a general public who have lost all sense of integrity in personal life and a political system devoid of any shame in public life and a corporate sector which is grossly short sighted. We have to come to terms with the fact that discipline has to be enforced in the society, people have to be made to feel Indian , feel elated about their motherland and its culture and values. Our values copied from Western cultures, Socialist, Secular, Democratic Republic cannot woo the minds of the people. The people have to feel part of an inclusive democracy which also enforces strict rules for its citizens that any sense of work against the country will be punished. Not paying the taxes or getting money for voting a party in a election should be as punishable as a theft or murder. Integrity a sense of belonging has to be enshrined through the education system.

Discontent has to be addressed. At the same time disloyalty has to be punished. We should pride ourselves on what we gave to the world, Bhagavad Gita, Buddha, Mahaveer, AryaBhatta, Ramanujam, Ramayana, Mahabharatha, Kamasutra to every other scientific literature has to be patronized rather than priding ourselves on imported values. As long as we as a nation dont value ourselves, as long as we are averse to saying Vande Mataram lest it irritate our muslim community, as long as we are not ready to accept that Indians can be terrorists and have to dealt with by law, as long as we impersonate as others there can be no solutions to any problems.

We should enforce discipline, we should identify our roots and we should involve our general public in a way where they not only know their rights but also their duties. We should ensure Indians abide by Dharma and value the life of Indians and then we can speak about overt or covert strikes, unsecure neighbourhood, India's greatness, Strategic ties, Democracy or what not. We should increase our strength and also be ready to accept defeat if need be, to be hit by nuclear weapons, to be opposed by Pak, Taliban, china et al and deal with them with our strengths and not our weaknesses. Once we stand tall, all these attacks on our society will stop bcause our society will automatically get rid of elements that helps in such actions. And then we can seek peace and spread peace. Until then we have to understand that our feet stinks just as much as our neighbours and not play a blame game.
