The act of untruth
The Gurukshetra war in Mahabharatha was a test of values, test of morality . Bhagvad Gita changed the moral values that these guys have carried till then. But everytime you act, your conscience comes back to bite you as to whether it was right or wrong.
Whose moral predicaments was the worst in that case. Was it Arjuna's at the start of the war, Was it arjuna's when he killed Bheeshma from behind sikandi or yudhistra's when he lied to Drona about his son's death.
Arjuna's moral predicament at the start of the war in still the one topping the charts for anyone. Can you go against all your close people for the claims to duty. Every person seems broken when confronted by this. The other 2 are to be seen in a different light. Arjuna was delivering blows to bheeshma, but cannot lay claims to it as he was doing it from behind sikandi. Neither can sikandi lay claims to the blows as he was not doing anything other than standing in front. But yudhistra was delivering the blows to Drona when he uttered a lie. He did not accept it consciously but still provided his face to the lie. He had to take the responsibility when the idea was not his, only the involuntary action was.
I had faced the same moral predicament as yudhistra just a day back. I had certain ideas, but my bigger team had different ones. We had to present our ideas to an external team and get their approval. As I could not get my team to accept my opinions in some cases, I allowed in the consensus opinions of the team. When there were queries and arguments on those with the external teams, I could not support the external team though I accepted whatever they said. I had to remain silent to show a face of unity with my team.
The issue confronting the team was not as big to me. Iam not the one affected by it. But my own situation where I could not consciously support my team and hence had to keep silent avoiding clashes was a situation I never imagined would occur. And I failed in the yudhistra test of my life.
